Tall Girl Struggles

I love my height. I love how God made me. When I was younger, I didn’t always feel this way about my height. I slouched when talking to people because I didn’t want to tower over them. Today, my posture could be a lot better and it’s a work in progress.

In the meantime, I can’t help but think of some of the thoughts I’ve had about my experience in being tall. I also think it’s pretty interesting to share with shorter people because you’re experiencing life from an entirely different perspective!

So to my fellow tall girls: You are awesome but we can still laugh at ourselves! Enjoy. To my fellow short people, you’re awesome and I hope you can put yourselves in our shoes, if only for a moment… and for a laugh!

Deciding what shoes to wear can be tough. Do I want to be a giant today? Are the people I’m going to be around today short, normal, or tall?

Short dresses can be a gamble. I have some short dresses that are technically knee length but end up well above my knees, barely past fingertip length. When I get dressed for work, I have to really consider if the dress is too short or acceptable.

Long cardigans are actually really short. Cardigans that look long on short people look normal sized on us.

When taking group pictures, we automatically default to standing in the back. We’ve been here before and know we will block everyone so it’s best if we just get out of the way now without being told than to have someone else make a big deal out of it.

Random knee aches. Apparently this is a thing for a lot of tall people. My grandfather was 6’4″ and often had this issue. I’ve found a supplement to help with this and have experienced great results.

We look like giants when talking to short people. I am actually a pretty shy person so when I tower over a short person, I feel like it can seem intimidating which is typically the opposite effect I want to have on people. I almost have to go out of my way to reassure the shorter person that I’m not going to eat them.
