As we gear up to move back home to my mom’s house, I’m grateful for some small systems I’ve had in place for a while that is making packing a little easier! In our closet, I’ve been using 3 bins:
- Single sock bin. Ours can get kind of crazy and since posting this, I went through and matched a ton of pairs together. This six pack of bins (come in different colors!) are probably the most useful thing I own.
- Donation bin. This one tends to be a little bigger than the others (technically a hamper) because I like to fill up a larger bag before making a run to the donation center to drop off some clothes. But you might operate differently! You might like to get rid of things more often!

- Clothes to fix bin. I would like to improve my sewing skills. I also have some pieces that could use a lint razor treatment but I just don’t have time right now so I place it in this bin for future work! I use a gray bin for this as well!
These 3 bins have worked wonders for us! Do you have a bin system in your closet? Let me know by responding to this blog below!
Additional Bin ideas!
- Belts/ties. Not for everyone, but sometimes hanging your belts or ties up after work is just not fun so tossing them into a bin is literally the easiest thing.
- Leggings/stockings. I don’t want to dedicate an entire drawer to leggings or stockings so I also use a bin for these!
- Winter socks/gloves/scarves. Depending on how many you have, you could easily dedicate a bin to these winter items as well!
